The Cupboard Is Complete

So the cupboard transformation is finally complete- I had a couple of days off either side of the weekend so went out and bought the last few bits and tried (and failed) to put up a shelf which Max finished off tonight..

A little B&Q trip on Monday saw me come home with:

a) some new door knobs- they aren't exactly the same ones as the hallway door but they were the only ones with a "satin nickel" finish i could find! (and a bargain at £10!)
b)A pine CD rack which i imagined turning into a shelf to go above the hooks which are already there
c) some No More Nails to stick the shelf to the wall (yes i realise now this was a stupid idea) and also to stick the garden hooks we got from Wilko's.

Obviously i had to paint the shelf white before it could grace my walls- and gave the door one last coat at the same time

Even copious amounts of No More Nails wouldn't stick this tiny shelf!
So then i tried to No more nails the shelf to the wall- this did not work since the wall was so uneven there was only a very small section which actually made contact with the shelf. So determined to put the shelf up myself whilst Max was out at work- I got the electric drill out and drilled 2 holes into the wooden baton which came with the CD rack. I then nailed that to the wall:

I have since learnt you can just hammer the nail straight through the wood and into the wall without drilling holes! Ha anyway this is when i gave up and let Max screw the shelf bit to the baton i had already nailed to the wall- i should Point out that i did in fact pre-drill 2 holes in this too for him!

Yay a shelf! Then Max also screwed the door knob on - I am ok with nails and hammering but using a screwdriver seems like so.much.effort. so I let him do all that stuff!

I then stuck the garden-tool hooks to the other wall to hang bags and stuff off- and some have stayed on- some haven't. In fact i really don't rate this No More Nails as i have had to use nails since it didn't work!

Then I filled the cupboard back up with the shoes (and the new rack which we bought from eBay for £6!) coats, mop, bags, and a little set of drawers we previously had in the living room- but is now full of flip flops!

I quickly added a reed diffuser to the shelf to make the whole cupboard smell nice!
And here's how it looks from the outside-

The heart on the door is something i made from the fabric i bought at the weekend (more on that here) and I will upload a post about how to make it soon.

So all in all really happy with the make over even though it makes the walls look even more yellow than normal! Next pay day Ikea trip will to be replace that clock which is the hideous thing which came with the house!
